The Alaska Native Language Archive is hosting a workshop on Digital Heritage Preservation for Alaska Native Libraries, Archives, and Museums, March 9-10. This two-day workshop will cover basic digitization planning, preservation, workflows, and project organization, as well as issues specific to Alaska Native languages and the . Participants will learn best practices for digitizing documents, photographs, and audio recordings, as well as strategies for mobilizing these resources to make them more useful and accessible to patrons. Participants will work directly with demonstration materials, hardware, and software on site.
The workshop will be held at the Rasmuson Library in Fairbanks, immediately prior to the Alaska Library Association Conference. Registration for the workshop is $25, which includes all materials and breakfast and lunch on both days. Registration is being handled through the . Scholarships are also available (see below).

Location
The workshop will be held on the 3rd floor of the Rasmuson Library on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM on both days. Transportation will be provided from the Westmark Hotel each morning, departing at 8:00 AM. If you drive to campus, parking is available in the Taku Lot, located off Farmers Loop Road. Be sure to park in the visitor area and purchase a daily parking pass from the machine. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day for workshop participants.
